Joseph Anthony Mendes
It all began in Oakland, California in January of 1970. My childhood flew by growing up in the East Bay city of Martinez. After attending De La Salle High School in Concord, I went on to Diablo Valley College for a couple of years. The big question at this point in my life was…What was I to do for the rest of my life? I didn’t have an answer so I headed off to Europe to race bicycles. After several of racing at the elite amateur level, I realized that it was going to be very difficult to make a living racing bicycles. So back to school I went.
In 1999, I obtained my B.S. in Food Science, minoring in chemistry from San Jose State University. I love food so a career in the food industry seemed to be a good fit at the time. I spent most of my eight year career in the food industry working as a Quality Manager at the San Jose Kellogg’s facility, the home of the Eggo waffle. L’Eggo my Eggo! While at Kellogg’s I started and completed a Masters in Business Administration from Saint Mary’s College in Moraga, California.
Looking for a change, I passed the California state real estate exam in mid-2005 and received my real estate license. Shortly thereafter, I decided to leave Kellogg’s after six plus years working in management at their San Jose plant. While I enjoyed working at Kellogg’s, I was ready to move on and take on a career that I was truly passionate about. I have been interested in real estate ever since my wife Vicky and I bought our first home in Pleasanton in late 2000.
Following prices, interest rates, and new home developments have always intrigued me. Counseling friends and family on real estate and finance matters over the last few years provided me with even further direction when choosing my next career path. The skill set necessary to excel in real estate was supplemented in 2004 by obtaining a MBA.
About my Business
For brokerages, in July 2013, I passed the real estate Brokers examination and am now working as your Real Estate Broker. My goals are centered on helping people by offering financial planning services in conjunction with sound real estate and loan advice, all with a skill-set a step above other Realtors®. Hence…when it comes to the services I provide, I’m “Your Realtor® and More”.
In this very competitive real estate market there are lots of options when it comes to choosing a Realtor or Loan Advisor. It makes sense, doesn’t it, to have a clear picture of why you would turn to me for assistance with a real estate matter or you would refer a friend to me. One good example is my thorough approach to financial matters. Regardless of what aspect of real estate you are delving into, it’s important to have a clear understanding of the financial implications.
Knowledge is power and the right financial knowledge that I, complimented by my relationship with the best lenders, real estate attorneys, and accountants, provide will allow you to make the best “informed” decision possible when buying or selling property. The right financial know-how along with a highly customized level of service are just two reasons of many for why I am the right person to turn to when it comes to handling a real estate matter.
About me
Some years after ending my full time cycling career, I have combined my passion for cycling and the real estate/mortgage business by being a sponsor of cyclists throughout California since 2006; giving back $60,000+ to the sport that has given him so much.
